I’m back!

Thanks for checking back with me after these past 5 weeks of silence at this blog. I’ve had some technical difficulties  that I didn’t have the time or expertise to correct, but it looks like things are under control again. More posts coming soon! I’m putting down some thoughts on what people think of breastfeeding older babies and toddlers, the Ohio breast milk billboards, and some other stuff.

In the meantime, I’ve been busy with work and parenting my active toddler! At 16 months, he’s still nursing happily, although definitely not as often these days. When it’s time, though, he’s quite verbal about it. He asks for “Nuh nuh,” in the sweetest voice you can imagine.  And if I don’t comply quickly, he throws in the sign for “please.” My husband loves seeing him ask to nurse and he insists that as soon as we find out lost camera, we’re going to get a video of it.

I still pumping once a day at work so that he can drink my milk with his babysitter. I’m not sure how much longer I will keep that up, but for that little boost to his immune system the hassle of pumping is worth it to me. . . for now.

Here’s what my busy little boy has been up to!

He is amazingly precious! Welcome back! I have been silent for way too long on my blog, as well, and am having a hard time getting started again. Hope things go smoothly for you!

Do you mind if I ask how often your son nurses? I only ask because my 19 month old (holy cow, when did that happen?!) is showing no signs of slowing down… but isn’t it sweet when they sign please? How can you say no to them when they look up at you with that sweet face and ask so nicely? :)

      Thanks, Rachel!
I don’t mind at all. He nurses two (sometimes three) times on working days, and about four times on weekend days. If he’s really busy, like we’re doing something outdoors for a long part of the day, he’ll go as long as 5-6 hours without asking to nurse. Then he’ll want to nurse twice in 2 hours. No pattern at all. Sometimes I have to say “no,” or ask him to wait. I know, it melts my heart when he asks like that!

Glad I found your blog. I was waiting for you to come back. Glad all the bugs have been worked out. Can’t wait to see what you say on the “billboard” as I live in Ohio as well. Your little boy is just adorable. I was hoping to start signing with my baby boy in a few months here. He is 4 months old. When did you start to sign with your little one?
