Before we open the books on breastfeeding, I’ve just gotta tell you, my tiny web audience (hi, Mom and Dad!) about my husband.
He’s the support team behind this blog. Technically, as in, he set the whole thing up for me and is teaching me how to use it as I go. But more than that, he was the most important source of support as I learned to breastfeed our son.
He was compassionate when I told him how I just wanted to quit. Many important people in my life gently suggested that maybe breastfeeding wasn’t worth all the effort it took to overcome our complications, and reminded me that I wouldn’t be any less of a mother if I switched to bottle-feeding. I appreciated that.
But my husband knows my determination, and how strongly I felt about breastfeeding. He reminded me it was worth it, and more than once, suggested I just keep trying a little longer. It was just what I needed, every time.
While the ultimate decision in how to feed a baby is usually up to the mother, studies have shown that the father’s attitude toward breastfeeding is the strongest influence on her decision. If I’ve got any Dad readers out there, take note.
Patrick, your encouragement and support have meant the world to me.

Thanks for the honor of being your first blogged topic
You have to put up with my perpetual student lifestyle, so I’m glad that I can give you something back!
Very sweet, Christina…and so true! Yay Pat!
you rock.
I am impressed and proud of what a good team you two make in breasfeeding as in other areas.
I feel the same way about my hubby. I said I was going to quit more than once and he knew I didn’t want to and reminded me how important breastfeeding was to me. Now I am nursing a toddler, which has been a lifesaver more than once (sickness, travel, injuries, etc).
yes, breastfeeding really does pay off in the long run, I know this from experience! It’s great there is so much more information now, unlike when I was a young mom in the 80′s. You will be helping a lot of mothers who want advice.
And a good support system through Dad is very important! Hurray for DAD!
Thanks for the encouragement y’all. It’s nice to be reminded that it’s worth it and it pays off. Elita, I hope to follow in your footsteps in nursing into toddlerhood!
Christina, What a lovely website you have created. And how beautiful your little boy is! Please know that I think of you often and lift you up in prayer as well. Hope all is well. Love, Beth
